You guys are awesome. Thanks to everyone who brought in presents we ended up donating 4 large bags of presents to Monte Cecilia house!!!

Yesterday we made a gingerbread house. It was loads of fun and it turned out so well!!

Christmas Donation

We have decided to spread the Christmas Cheer in Room 6 by collecting presents to donate to the Monte Cecilia House for families who can't afford presents for their children.

If you would like to donate could you please bring your present wrapped to Room 6, and have on the label boy or girl and the age range.

Week 9 Notices

Just a few notices for the final weeks of school: 

• Library books are now due back. If you have not done so already please return your library book ASAP.
• Please start returning your readers they are due back on the 11th. Which means this week their will be no readers going home. But make sure you still read at home! 
• Their is a notice going home today about our class party please make sure you read it. 
• Books and school work will be going home over the next few weeks please come to school with a plastic bag to carry everything home. 
• We will be displaying our final playground designs next Tuesday in the hall. 

Swimming

We will be swimming until the end of term on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the second block. Make sure you remember to bring your togs, a towel and goggles if you have them. Bring everything to school in a named bag. 

Week 7 Homework

Kindness

This is Miss Crowthers friend Sarah. She and Sarah had a fight and Miss Crowther said meant things to her and hurt her. 

This is what happened to Sarah after Miss Crowther hurt her. Miss Crowther tried to fix her by saying sorry but that didn't work, she was hurt on inside. 

Hurting someone and then saying sorry will not fix them. Hurting someone effects them on the inside. 

Messages from Room 6 

We are learning what happens when you hit someone or hurt someone or be a bully. That you cant fix them by just saying sorry. How not being kind to others effects them on the inside.

Athletics Day Postponed

Hi Room 6, 

Athletics day has been canceled as the weather isn't looking good for tomorrow. Instead we will be going on Monday next week.

Week 4

Hi Room 6,

We have a big week ahead of us starting with the playground trip tomorrow. Make sure you come to school with closed shoes, a hat, lunch and a drink bottle. Don't forget to bring in your permission slip if you haven't already done so.

Next up is athletics day on Thursday which you will need running shoes, a hat, drink bottle, a packed lunch and don't forget to put on lots of sun block.

Finally we finish our busy week with the dance off on Friday starting at 6.30. Come in your best dance outfit ready to have lots of fun.

Phew lets have a great week :)

Assembly

Well done on such a fantastic performance in assembly. You guys looked awesome! 

Homework

This terms homework contract has gone home today. Make sure you choose which task you would like to do and start it tonight. 

PowerPoint

Today we had a lesson on how to create a PowerPoint presentation. We leant how to put in new backgrounds and how to insert a picture from google. 

Big Sad Wolf

Yesterday we got to watch a very funny show featuring many of our favourite fairy tail characters like Snow White, The Gingerbread Man, Goldilocks, Granny and loads more. We laughed a lot!! 

Hats

It is Term 4 and the sun is shining. We need to bring our hats to school and wear them every day. 

Topic

This term for topic we are going to design a new playground area for Ara Pakeke. Everyone is very excited about this topic when you're out and you see a playground take note of all the things that you like so that we can include them in our own playground design.

Welcome back to Term 4 

A few reminder/notes for the beginning of the term

- Homework for Week 1 and 2 is practicing speeches which will be done in class in week 2 

- "Walk this Way" Movie tickets are now on sale, they are selling out fast so get in quick!! 

- If you have not brought in your camp please bring it in ASAP!

Lines

Today in maths we leant about all the different types of lines; parallel, horizontal, vertical, perpendicular and diagonal. Check out the cool pictures we made using all the different types of lines!   

We Made Ice Cream!

In Topic we are learning about the 3 states of matter (Solid, Liquid and Gas) So we decided to try and change something from a liquid to a solid! and it turned into... 

ICE CREAM!! 

YUM. 

Here are the instructions if you would like to try it at home:

Combine the sugar, half and half, and vanilla extract in the pint-size bag and seal it tightly. Place the salt and ice in the gallon-size bag, then place the sealed smaller bag inside as well. Seal the larger bag. Now shake the bags until the mixture hardens (about 5 minutes). Feel the small bag to determine when it's done. Take the smaller bag out of the larger one, add mix-ins, and eat the ice cream right out of the bag. Easy cleanup too! Serves 1.

• 2 tablespoons sugar
• 1 cup half and half
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/2 cup salt (The bigger the granules, the better. Rock salt works best, but table salt is fine.)
• Ice cubes (enough to fill each 4 litre-size bag about half full)
• 1 litre-size ziplock bag
• 4 litre-size ziplock bag

When 2 Vowels Go Walking

Today in reading the Brown Bar-ba-loots learnt what happens when 2 vowels are next to each other in a word. "When 2 vowels are together the first vowel does the talking and the second vowel is quite".
